Another Place sculpture, Crosby Beach, Merseyside
About
I was at Crosby Bay in Liverpool yesterday and noticed lots of these iron sculptures dotted around the beach. They are spread far apart, sometimes as much as 50 metres between them. The installation entitled "Another Place" is by modern artist Antony Gormley and consists of 100 cast iron human figures based on his own appearance facing the sea. The pieces of art originally acquired some strong criticism from locals due to claims they were of a 'pornographic nature'. This arose from the inclusion of a penis on the statue which protrudes outwards something uncommon in the stereotypical male sculptures you often see.
