Army of the Andes monument, Mt. Glory, Mendoza
About
I went on a lovely open top bus sightseeing tour earlier around San Martin park in Mendoza, Argentina. The highlight of the tour was the crawl up to the top of Cerro de la Gloria (Mt. Glory) where stands this lovely big monument. Army of the Andes was a military force created by the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata (Argentina) and led by general José de San Martín in his quest to free Chile from the Spanish Empire. In 1817 the army crossed the Andes Mountains from just beyond Mendoza Province, Argentina and was successful at pushing the Spanish from the country.
