Chester Race Course, Matthew Clark day, Cheshire
About
Being the oldest race course in Britain and probably the world you can always guarantee a huge crowd at Chester. I arrived in Chester quite late and only ventured past the race course while I was making my around the city wall walk. I think this was the last race of the day which was the Coca Cola Handicap Stakes (Class 4). After the last race the crowds poured out and I couldn't believe how many intoxicated people I saw. Sheffield's West Street on a Saturday night may look like an episode from booze Britain most of the time, but this was something else.
