The People's Friendship Arch, Kazbegi, Georgia
About
It seems there are many names for this large soviet era mosaic monument. I have seen it being referred to as "The Monument to the Treaty of Georgievsk" , "Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument" and also "The People's Friendship Arch". It is located near the resort of Gudauri on the Jvari Pass in the municipality of Kazbegi. It was created in 1982 to commentate the treaty mentioned above between Russia and Georgia who agreed to protect each others borders from neighbouring counties or rival empires. It's a spectacular sight to behold and tells the story of Russian and Georgian relations through the years. I think while there are many soviet era mosaics throughout Georgia, this is probably the most popular and well known.
